Get your inner Scot on at Hogman-eh! 2017
A free New Year’s Celebration – Scottish style – at Aberdeen Pavilion
The Scottish Society of Ottawa is calling all Ottawa region Scots and those wanting to enjoy Scottish culture to get their “inner Scot” on at the biggest free New Year’s Eve Party in Eastern Ontario, and the biggest Hogmanay celebration outside of Scotland.
“We’ve got an incredible evening planned this year,” said Andrew Caddell, Executive Director of the Scottish Society of Ottawa. “It all starts at 5:00 p.m. with the Great Scot! Kidzone, featuring Highland and Scottish Country Dancing and other fun family activities.”
At 7:00 p.m., revelers will celebrate midnight in Scotland with a huge balloon drop, followed by music from The American Rogues, Écosse, The Urban Highlanders and Searson, as well as the Arnprior McNab Pipe Band.
“We end the night and greet 2018 by gathering in fellowship to sing Auld Lang Syne, then head outdoors for a fireworks display over the Great Lawn at midnight,” Caddell added.
Scottish food, beer & whisky will be available at the Market Place.
“This year we have increased the number of VIP Experience tickets, which include reserved seating, complimentary drinks and appetizers and gifts donated by our sponsors,” said Caddell. “However, the number is still limited and they are going fast.”
The Scottish Society of Ottawa’s mission is to better promote an awareness and appreciation of Scottish culture, and its significant contribution to the fabric of Canadian society and identity through widespread public engagement among as many Canadians of all backgrounds as possible.
