Harold Shenkman Hall, Shenkman Arts Centre

The same sweet soul that delighted kids for over a decade on CBC is eager to share his favourite tunes with a new generation of children! A gentle giant with kind eyes, Fred Penner is a family man with a 25-year history of performing and championing causes that affect kids the world over. This musical master’s diverse repertoire includes a prolific 12 children’s albums, writing and composing television scores and countless energy-packed live shows across North America. Through his albums, videos, books and television programs, Fred’s cornerstone philosophy remains the same: absolute trust that his work can make a difference.

The two-time Best Children’s Album Juno winner devoted many years to teaching children from a forest glade, crawling magically out of a hollow log for nearly 900 episodes in the hit CBC TV show Fred Penner’s Place. From the small screen to the live stage, this classic performer blends humour, song and storytelling with warmth and enthusiasm.
