Date(s) - Friday, May 19 - Sunday, May 21
OTTAWA | May 9, 2017 – Stars of the local scene and a slew of talented burlesque performers from across North America are set to seduce Canada’s Capital Region this Victoria Day long weekend. From May 19 to 21, the Capital Burlesque Expo 2017 will showcase the tantalizing, diverse and glamorous art of the tease in its third edition.
The weekend-long fest aims to educate, thrill and tease burlesque lovers, as well as the curious-minded, with a series of events that include workshops and performances, even a late-night party to keep the mood going after hours!
The Expo’s Founder/Creative Director and Ottawa burlesque darling, Koston Kreme, and her dedicated team have been hard at work channeling their passion for the art form and their drive for further collaboration with national and international artists, to produce an event that aims to educate as well as entertain. Ultimately, the team is thrilled to offer the public a chance to embrace what has been celebrated all over the world for more than a century now: an empowering, body-positive performance genre with roots in satire and parody, where artists of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds pour their hearts on stage through music, theatre, circus, comedy and glamour to entertain, thrill and excite with that perfect amount of tease.
For amateurs, enthusiasts and experts, the Expo is an opportunity to strengthen the local scene and bridge ties with the burlesque community at large, not to mention a rare occasion to watch but also learn from the best, through showcases and workshops right here at home! For the uninitiated, it’s a perfect introduction into the world of burlesque and the classic experience of the original striptease/variety show.
Highlighting a range of styles from vintage naughty to darker sultry, grandiose glamour to silly and absurd, there’s something for everyone at the Expo; an experience that will surely entice and entertain any crowd in the city!
