This week the City of Ottawa launched EatSafe Ottawa, an online guide to provide information about food premise inspections. Any restaurant, grocery store, cafeteria, or business that serves food to the public has to be regularly inspected by municipal officials. This web site lists the results of the latest inspection for every one of these food businesses.
On top of that, the City has unwittingly created the most complete restaurant listing website in Ottawa. That’s right, every single restaurant is listed – in alphabetical order, sorted by municipal ward, including phone numbers. Maybe someday soon they’ll add web site links too, or sort by type of food. Then they could sell some ads and make some revenue for the city — which could help pay for more food inspectors.
