10 September 2015 (Ottawa) – Carlingwood Community Association and McKellar Park Community Association are teaming up with neighbourhood residents and Ecology Ottawa to conduct an active transportation audit on September 14th, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. An active transportation audit takes input from walkers and cyclists in the local community and generates a report with recommendations for improving the safety of the street. The event will see volunteers of all ages and abilities walking and cycling along Sherbourne Road inspecting the road and intersections, filling out questionnaires and making suggestions for improvements. Councillor Jeff Leiper will be joining the audit after 7:30 pm, and Councillor Mark Taylor has been invited and may join us as well.
Ecology Ottawa’s Complete Streets Campaign helps communities organize to improve their neighbourhood roads. Ottawa needs streets that provide safe and comfortable access for people of all ages, abilities and modes of travel – including pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and motorists.
Ecology Ottawa is a grassroots and volunteer-driven organization working to make Ottawa the green capital of Canada.
