City serving up available street food spaces for 2015

After the successful rollout of Ottawa’s Street Food Vending Program in 2013, the City is calling for proposals to occupy nine available on-street spaces in 2015. There are four cart spaces and five truck spaces available across the city. The available spaces have been vacated by vendors who have chosen to retire after years of serving on-street, or who have chosen to pursue other opportunities. All of the details, including the list of available locations, can be found on ottawa.ca .

The impartial volunteer street food selection panel will evaluate proposals based on criteria to encourage innovation and diversity in menu offerings. The selection criteria are based on the proposed menu, business plan, level of vendor experience and overall contribution to Ottawa’s food scene. Offers of a space will be made based on availability of space and the score the application receives from the street food selection panel.

The deadline to apply for a space is ** Monday, December 15, 2014 ** . Successful applicants will be offered spaces in early 2015, with their operations expected to rollout in May 2015. ** ** An information session for prospective applicants will be held on ** Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. ** in room 1C at Ben Franklin Place, located at 101 Centrepointe Drive.
