Manotick Mural project

** Call for Submissions ** ** ** In collaboration with the City of Ottawa, the Manotick BIA invites mural artists to submit proposals. The successful artist will design and paint a mural that will be hung on the wall adjacent to the Mill Street Park (back of Splash Pools building) on Mill Street. ** Submission Deadline: ** April 8, 2018 (11:59 pm)

Budget: The winning artist will receive $7,500 (upon delivery of final mural) ** Scope ** The mural dimensions will be 16’ x 8’. The Manotick BIA will provide the artist with four, 4’ x 8’ panels to be painted at their home studio. ** Vision ** The mural should embody life in Manotick. The artist can draw inspiration from Manotick’s history, character, and community. Examples are: the water, landmarks, new growth and development (new harbour being constructed in summer of 2018), and the community culture (Dickinson Days, A Taste of Manotick). ** Eligibility ** This opportunity is open to professional mural artists and students living within the National Capital Region. Participants must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Artists and/or artist-led teams are encouraged to apply. ** Schedule ** The winning artist will be notified by May 18, 2018. The premade panels will be delivered to the artist’s studio by May 28, 2018. The completion deadline will be no later than August 19, 2018. ** Submission Requirements ** A complete submission must include the support material listed below. Support material must be saved in PDF and/or JPEG file format and be attached to your email submission. No other file formats will be accepted. Paper documents are not required. The submission must include the following elements:

Please provide a) a description of the project to share your vision with the selection committee (maximum 250 words), and b) a description of how the project integrates with the site and overall environment of the BIA (maximum 250 words). This statement should address the questions: What does Manotick mean to you? How does your proposed mural visually explore the uniqueness of Manotick?

All submissions are to be sent by email to brunet@applecrate.ca no later than 11:59pm (EDT) on the deadline date. ** Please use the subject line: ** Manotick Mural Submission Notification will be provided by email no later than May 18, 2018. ** Copyright, intellectual rights and moral rights ** Copyright including any and all designs, drawings, and maquettes shall remain the property of the artist. The finished work of art produced on the boarding will remain the property of the Manotick BIA. Moral rights remain with the artist. As professional artists, the onus is on applicants to ensure that intellectual property rights are respected. Only original artwork will be considered. The Manotick BIA will seek permission to reproduce the images for non-profit publicity purposes. ** Confidentiality ** All personnel involved in the assessment of proposals are required to treat all materials they access as confidential. All information provided by applicants as part of submissions will be treated as confidential and will not be disclosed to external individuals or organizations.
