We are still months away from when the acts will be unveiled, but we’ve already seen a couple of people asking about Bluesfest rumours. Bluesfest runs from July 9-19, 2015 at Lebreton Flats.

We’ll leave our comments open here for you to tell us:
1. What acts would you like to see at Bluesfest this year?
2. Based on tour schedules, what acts are possibilities?

Lynyrd Skynyrd is listed on Pollstar for July 14.

  • Keith Urban is confirmed, will play on July 16.
  • Lynyrd Skynyrd is listed on Pollstar for July 14.
  • Weird Al’s tour dates have been confirmed and he’s playing Bluesfest on July 19. (Thanks Stephanie.)
  • The Ottawa Citizen’s Peter Simpson notes that U2’s tour dates would allow for an Ottawa show in July … but that most of their tour dates are arena shows. U2 plays Toronto July 6-7 and Boston July 10-11.
  • The Foo Fighters play Toronto on July 9, and have a window in their schedule until July 15 when they play in New York City.
  • Taylor Swift plays Canadian Tire Centre on July 6, so she’s out for Bluesfest.
  • In the comments below, Ray Kenkel has identified a few artists with breaks in their touring schedules around Bluesfest: Kenny Chesney, Fallout Boy, Billy Joel, Thousand Foot Krutch.
  • The Big Music Fest in Kitchener runs from July 10-12 and features names like Jane’s Addiction, Rod Stewart, Blondie, and Soundgarden. (Thanks Alex.)
  • The Wayhome Festival in Oro-Medonte (near Barrie) runs from July 24-26 and headliners include Sam Smith, Kendrick Lamar, Alt-J, Modest Mouse, Hozier and more. (Thanks Francis.)
  • Tim McGraw has a break in his tour during Bluesfest. (Thanks Riley.)
  • Blue Rodeo may have revealed a July 19 Bluesfest date on their web site, at least temporarily.

Local musicians take note – the deadline to apply to play at this year’s event is January 31.  Details here…

  1. Laurent says:

Imagine Dragons will release an album in February 2015. They expect to go on tour in late spring / summer 2015. They would be a good fit for Bluesfest.

  2. Laurent says:

Your page says : “Bluesfest runs from July 9-15, 2015 at Lebreton Flats.” Bluesfest runs from July 9-19; not 15.

  3. Paul N says:

DMB released their dates today, as usual they have a few days off during Bluesfest – but are the cities close enough together to make it feasible?

  4. Julie Mikolaitis says:

I would like to see the Moodie Blues. They put on a really good concert and they are touring right now.

  5. Donna says:

Given the success of the country genre I expect there will be at least the same amount if not more in 2015. Brett Kissel, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, seem to be possibilities.

  6. Donna says:

With the genre of country doing well with three headliners at Bluesfest in 2014, I suspect there’s a strong possibility we’ll see at least a similar amount country artists. I’m thinking Brad Paisley as his Canadian tour did not stop in Ottawa, Tim McGraw will be touring although he only mentioned Toronto for Canadian dates or possibly Keith Urban who has dates for festivals in PEI on 11th and 15th in London, ON.

  7. Stephanie says:

Weird Al just posted July 19 at Ottawa Bluesfest. Could be a fun show:)

  8. Craig says:

Dave Mathews Band have dates of July. 18 in Indiana and the next show is July. 21 in Toronto, so they could close Bluesfest on the 19th. That would be a way better close than last year’s festival!

  9. Craig says:

We can only hope that Dave Grohl’s buddy Josh Homme shared positive things about Bluesfest, and Ottawa, after the Queen’s of the Stone Age show last year. Then the Foo’s might actually play. Saturday the 11th sounds like the perfect date for them to play.

  10. Ray Kenkel says:

Yes the cities are close enough, they could easily stop in Ottawa on their way to NJ.

  11. Ray Kenkel says:

    Luke Bryan: Break July 9-26
    U2: Break July 7-10 (Toronto 7, Boston 10)
Florida Georgia Line: Break July 10-17 (Saskatchewan 10, Ohio 17 so not likely but possible)
Kenny Chesney: Break July 11-16 (Philadelphia 11, New England 16)
Fallout Boy: Break 4-10 (Pennsylvania 4, Michigan 10)
Billy Joel: Break July 1 – Aug 31 (Huge possibility!)
Thousand Foot Krutch (Canadian band!): Break July 3 – Aug 26 (Moncton , NS 3)

    Those are my speculations!

  12. Jeremy says:

I would LOVE to see Imagine Dragons appear at bluesfest would definitely go!

  13. Stephanie says:

Hozier would be amazing! And obviously the Foo Fighters!

  14. Evelyn says:

  15. Evelyn says:

    Marianas trench
    Arctic monkeys
    All time low

  16. Paul N says:

The question is can they make a 12h overnight trip from IN to Ottawa in time.
If so, it could definitely fit.
I will discuss it over the next few weeks at #DMBOTTAWA

  17. Drunkenaardvark says:

BADBADNOTGOOD seems like they’ll be on the bill (on the 11th). Pretty excited about chilling in the sun, pouring back a cold one and hearing them live.

  18. dee cee says:

they are not touring but I would give anything to see Mumford&Sons – true festival artists -and if Billy Joel wanted to stop by 🙂

  19. Get it? says:

I don’t know…I think Marianas trench and Arctic monkeys could be alright

  20. Laurent says:

Dates have been released for Imagine Dragons and Metric. They have only a few open dates between July 9-19 and they will be in southern US; no chance for Ottawa……

  21. Jennifer says:

Hozier!! I’d love to see him live!!

  22. Alex says:

I think Jane’s Addiction and Rod Stewart will be playing as they are both playing a festival in Kitchener on July 11-12

  23. Brian says:

I’m betting that Keith Urban will be playing at Bluesfest. He plays in Cavendish, PEI on July 11 and then plays in London, ON on July 15. Many artists last year played Bluesfest and Cavendish.

  24. Francis says:

The lineup for the wayhome festival on july 24-26th has been announced which means that a lot of those acts are in the area just after bluesfest. Unfortunately, Hozier and Alt-J are no go’s, but Sam Smith, Run the Jewels, Kendrick Lamar and Walk the moon are possibilities..

  25. Catherine says:

    Arctic Monkeys!!!!!
Also, Imagine Dragons, Mumford, Cage the Elephant, The Strokes

  26. Mel says:

Brad Paisley has a long break in his tour during the Bluesfest dates (and the last show before bluesfest being at Darien Lake NY so not too far away). Would love to see him there! Will be hard to top lasts year’s country line up though!

  27. Me says:

    The Cure
Incubus (Finish Europen Tour in June)
    Johnny Marr
Interpol (Who play in Montreal in July at Osheaga)

  28. alex says:

Run The Jewels are performing at basically every festival this summer, and 2 years ago when they made their festival run they came to Bluesfest. Hoping they come again! Although they may be hesitant due to the technical malfunctions that went on last time.

  29. NB says:

Artists I would LOVE for Bluesfest to bring: Imagine Dragons, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Mumford & Sons, Offspring, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Bryan Adams, Tim McGraw, John Mayer, Katy Perry, Armin Van Burren, The Lumineers, Aerosmith, ACDC, U2, Sia, Sam Smith, Adele, Britney Spears, Cheryl Crow, Alamis Morisset (she lives in Ottawa!!)… More Canadian artists too

  32. spgblack says:

Tame Impala and Beck are both touring festivals and would be great! Foo Fighters have open dates too. Modest Mouse are doing festivals and are open before a show in Louisville on July 19. Both The Decemberists and the Sheepdogs are playing the Wayhome Festival near Barrie July 24-26 are are open before that.

  33. Riley says:

Carrie Underwood. She’s free July 12 through July 16, with a festival performance scheduled in Ohio on July 11 and another festival performance scheduled in Michigan on July 17.

  34. The_Rickster says:

Dave Matthews to close the show on the 19th, Sam Roberts Band and the Tragically Hip will be returning.

  35. K says:

Soundgarden, Extreme, Jane’s Addiction could stop by after Kitchener! 🙂 Dave Matthews would be awesome !!!

  38. Alma Wilson says:

OMG I forgot Rolling Stones they could headline for two nights

  39. Alma Wilson says:

    Rolling stones 🙂

  40. Samantha says:

Florida Georgia Line, Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan would be absolutely amazing!! and if Zac Brown Band and Darius Rucker could come back as well 😀

  41. Peter says:

    How about Edgar Winter?

  42. Riley says:

Tim McGraw’s tour dates have been announced. He’s performing in Toronto on July 16, but July 12 through July 15 are open.

  43. Joe says:

I would love to see David Bowie make a visit to Ottawa and I think Blues Fest would be a perfect fit for him to do a test run for a world tour. Of course the Stones would be awesome too but I don’t think the Flats could support the crowd that would show up.

  44. Sacha says:

  53. Maddie says:

Marina and the Diamonds seems to be going to a lot of festivals (including Osheaga and one in Toronto) which would leave an opening for Bluesfest 🙂

  54. Angela says:

    Rae Sremmurd !!!!

  55. Michaela says:

Luke Bryan and FGL wouldn’t be coming because they’re both doing concerts in Ottawa at the CTC

  56. Emma says:

If The Summer Set, Fallout Boy, Simple Plan, Zac Brown Band (again) could be there i could die happy the day after it ended

  68. Caroline says:

The band that should totally come to bluesfest is AFI. They barley have any apperences in Canada and what better place to play then the capital. There are so much fans here that never get the chance to see them since they have never been to Ottawa

and I will add that the Eagles have extended their tour and are in Virginia July 13 and then nothing until Maryland on July 20.

My husband had to watch the screen all the time. The chances of Peter of jumping up in front of any one is non existant. Believe me he would much rather stand with the rest of you. I hope that Mark Monyhan reads this……..

  91. Pat says:

The Stones just posted that they will be playing the LE FESTIVAL D’ÉTÉ DE QUÉBEC on July 15th. This is their last concert on their tour. Wouldn’t it be great to have them close out the Bluesfest on the Sunday 🙂 – We can only wish!
