30 things to do in and around Ottawa before the end of summer

Hurry! Act now! Time is running out! Here are 30 things to do in Ottawa before the end of summer. Ready, set, go!

  1. Build a rock sculpture on the Ottawa River.
  2. Buy everything you need for dinner at a farmers’ market.
  3. Watch Mosaika on Parliament Hill.
  4. Visit a museum.  (Learn about ants or use The Force.)
  5. Have dinner at 8 Locks Flat along the Canal.
  6. Take a cool photo of our city and share it with the rest of us.
  7. Watch a movie in a park. (For example, in Centretown or Stittsville.)
  8. Watch the fireworks at Lac Leamy.
  9. Ride your bike down a parkway on Sunday.
  10. Bike down that really steep hill behind Major’s Hill Park.
  11. Hire a rickshaw to drive you through downtown.
  12. March along with the Changing of the Guard.
  13. Have a picnic at Pinhey’s Point or the Arboretum.
  14. Eat some street food.
  15. Build a sand castle at a local beach.
  16. Take your dog for a run at Lemieux Island.
  17. Drink a local beer on a local patio.
  18. Do some dancing on Sparks Street.
  19. Check out the classic cars at Hazeldean Mall.
  20. Go to a drive-in movie.
  21. Walk around and admire Ottawa’s street art.
  22. Visit an Ottawa winery.
  23. Invite your neighbours over for a barbecue.
  24. Play mini-golf.
  25. Do yoga on Parliament Hill.
  26. Paddle around Dow’s Lake.
  27. Take a little road trip to Manotick or Carleton Place or Almonte or Wakefield or Perth.
  28. Go to the fair.
  29. Teach yourself how to skateboard.
  30. Go zip lining.
